Weekly Check in | March 2/23 – Banned!

We ordered vegan pizza from Panago this weekend. Cousin Clint says I’m banned. Last month was the first time I had any sort of pizza since April 2020. Almost three years of no pizza and the second time I have it, my family issues a ban. Dammmmnnnn!! It’s comically shocking to me that I immediately proved including vegan pizza in my life is probably not the best choice.

We had friends over and they didn’t eat much, so naturally I took on the duty of eating ALL the pizza along with the vegan cookies from a local bakery throughout the weekend.

The book Atomic Habits talks about setting your environment up for success. Having hyperpalatable foods in my house all weekend long was not a recipe for success. As it was my husband’s birthday, we had a parade of treats in the house all week long. Purdy’s had a sale and their imperfect vegan sweet georgia browns ended up in our house which I managed to completely avoid, but was worn down by the time the cookies and pizza arrived. My well intentioned plans to have one splurge meal, turned into four splurge meals. Whoopsie!

Instead of getting stuck in a shame spiral, I have a habit of looking at what happened. In this case, I wasn’t able to throw out the extra pizza (wasteful much) and I wasn’t able to not eat it (as if!). Next time if I were to have vegan pizza it won’t be in our house. It’ll be at a friend’s house or at a restaurant where I can have one meal and move on.

I mentioned this to my wise friend Shannon and she said the advise from a book she read called Dopamine Nation talks about a 30 day reset. I like that advice. I’ll take a 30 day reset from Pizza and even after then, won’t seek it out on the regular.

WEEKLY CHECK IN: + 2.4 lb | 30.8 lbs to goal

Tuesday’s blog post, talks about my realization that in order to change, I have to change and though I have made significant strides, I’m still a work in progress and always will be. My resilience and persistence to keep going to keep solving this obesity problem is what counts and for a person who lacks patience, I’m very proud of myself. I will hit my goal in 2023. I don’t know when, but it’ll happen!! #IGotThis #KeepGoing

Peace, love & plants,

Michelle 😊
